THE CHALLENGE

Addiction recovery centers receive inbound admissions calls 24/7, often at night when intake staff aren't available. Manual triage means missed calls equal missed admissions. The team needed an AI voice agent that could handle inbound and outbound calls, qualify leads, schedule callbacks, and orchestrate follow-up SMS and email automatically, without losing the human warmth required in this specific clinical context.

OUR APPROACH

We built a real-time voice agent on the OpenAI Realtime API, bridged through a WebSocket service and Twilio for inbound and outbound calls. Whisper transcribes every recording for compliance. The agent uses function calling to perform actions: log lead, schedule callback, send SMS via Twilio, send email via Resend, escalate to a human. A scheduler service drives automated follow-ups across the admissions funnel. The CRM dashboard is built in Next.js 15 with Supabase Auth and Realtime, giving admissions staff full visibility into every call, transcript, and lead state. All AI prompts and SMS or email templates live in a single source of truth file for safe iteration without redeploys.
